The Finalized Dark Dreamer Logo was unveiled in a recent issue of the Gavin Hesterdale Journal...

Rumors are circulating that the Gavin Hesterdale Journal is coming to a “Season Finale.”  While nothing has been confirmed, fans have clearly been seeing the escalation as Gavin races to figure out the mysterious catacode!  In the most recent addition, the final Dark Dreamers symbol was unveiled (which, apparently, folks who got a sneak peak of the Day 419 film got briefly exposed to).  Additionally, a mysterious order of warriors known as the Order of the Steel Rood was unveiled and MEGAT0N (the founder of the Post-Apocalyptic Forums) made a return guest appearance. As a final coup, Dark Dreamer Jojo (an undoubted nod to Contributor Jojo Stratton) is credited with being part of the mystery to unravel the the Catacode whih is said to reveal the mystery of the date the Fall begins on.

That things are rising to a climax is undoubted.  If this is indeed a season finale, it seems likely that it will conclude with the riots that Gavin and his Dark Dreamers foretold.  (I have heard rumors that the finale will be day and date with the first of the Day 419 serials, providing a bridge from the conclusion of Gavin’s journal directly into the film itself.)

Where the series may pick up after this event is currently unknown, although World of Depleted Co-Founder Jeremy Hanke has stated, “This is only the beginning of what Gavin Hesterdale will be involved in.”

For those who missed the newest release (“Cloistered Warriors”), you can catch up on it here at:

Known for his Post-Apocalyptic Forum and his massive connections with the post-apocalyptic underground, Megaton has decided that he will be reprinting some of World of Depleted’s Canonized tales in his official story section. World of Depleted contributors and fans are excited about this opportunity to share these tales with a larger community of post-apocalyptic fans!

So far it’s been announced that Jojo Stratton and Fred Koskin’s introductory tales will be reprinted, but it seems likely that any number of World of Depleted tales will show up there, as well.

If there is a real world character that’s most like Depleted’s Gavin Hesterdale, it would have to be Hawaii’s own Bill Kennedy, who’s better known to his fans as “Megaton.” Megaton began collecting information about the end of mankind a number of years ago, starting by reposting podcasts on the subject on his own blog and then expanded to multiple boards and sites based on the notions of the apocalypse. While not exclusive to more scientific apocalypses like the one Depleted is based on (zombie rises and other apocalypses are openly discussed here, as well), there is no question that Megaton has come to be recognized as one of the experts on the subject of end of the world matters. As such, he was one of an exclusive group chosen to sign an NDA with Viking Productions to offer expert advice on certain elements of Depleted. With that said, WoD founder, Jeremy Hanke, was happy to explain that they want to make sure the World of Depleted is as based on real world possibilities as possible.

Due to his expertise, William will become only the second person to have a World of Depleted character based directly on him. While the WoD team at Viking wouldn’t comment on what all the Megaton character will do in this world, it’s clear that there is a strong connection between he and Gavin Hesterdale. Hesterdale’s journal has already begun reflecting the interaction between the two men and Hesterdale has been spotted searching for more clues about the “Catacode” on Megaton’s Official “Post-Apocalyptic Forum.”

When asked for more information, Megaton stated that he is planning on creating an audio recording which will be submitted for Canon status in the near future!
